Melanie Johnson is a London based food writer, stylist and photographer working from her home studio. She is currently the food columnist for award winning magazine Country Life, where her recipes and images appear each week in her Kitchen Garden Cook column, except for the second publication of each month when celebrity chef Simon Hopkinson writes the food pages.
Melanie holds a BA(Hons.) in the History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art (University of London) where she did a specialism in historical textiles, and a Masters from the Sotheby's Institute of Art (validated by the University of Manchester) in the history of fine art, ceramics and furniture.
A self taught photographer, through an in-depth understanding of art, Melanie is able to create balanced and visually satisfying images using only natural light. Food is presented with a tactile, rustic elegance with styling that is current and unique.
Melanie develops, cooks, styles and shoots each recipe herself and the blog section of mel at home... includes food, art and travel related pieces.
