House Guests

When you have guests to stay there are a few very simple and affordable things you can do to make them feel especially welcome.

Make sure you have a rough plan of what you will do with your guests. Arrange to visit something interesting nearby or go for a beautiful walk; preplan your menus so that you have everything you need in your home and pre-make as much as you can so you have time to enjoy being with your guests.

Make sure your guest bedroom has been freshly cleaned and aired before your guests arrive.  

All bedrooms should have a chair so your guests can sit and read or just to put their clothes over.

Place a pile of fresh towels in the bedroom or bathroom ready for them to use. Add bathrobes if you have them. Make sure you have a bath towel, hand towel and face cloth for each guest and arrange them neatly.

Put fresh cut flowers, ideally just from your garden, in a vase. This shows such thoughtfulness. See our flowers for entertaining

Make up a basket of things your guests might like while they stay. Bottled water, chocolate, crisps, soap, bubble bath and ideally some home made cookies.   

Make sure your guest bedroom has a selection of reading material - some books and magazines suited to your guests tastes.
